My Demands; His Will

Hello Greatness,

Muy agradecida!!!!!

There’s no way I can tell you how loved I feel when I read the comments or hear the various reactions to my blog posts these past few weeks. I’m very grateful for the encouraging words and for letting me know that I can truly do this. It brings me great joy every time I think about writing again.

I have to admit that I’m not usually a very patient person. I’m not one to be kept in suspense for too long…. I get tired and might perhaps lose interest. Yes, I’m one of the very few people who wouldn’t mind getting the spoiler alerts of a movie. Yet I still manage to enjoy the movie. I’m interesting like that. Well, this impatience seems to have rubbed off on almost all areas of my life. While reading a book, I want to know how it ends or what the author is driving at that I just might possibly miss out on a whole lot of things just because I couldn’t wait to know how it ends. Sometimes I wonder how I’m able to enjoy games as much as I do. But then again, trying to figure out the end might be just what keeps me playing.

When you are given a plain board, how do you fill it? How does your creative mind start to work at that time. It’s the same way when we pray, we are meant to fill up an empty board with the right kinds of images.

For a really long time, it was like that with me when I pray as well. While praying, I start to see the answers to my prayers that I don’t really wait for God to confirm it. Now this is a very tricky concept. Took me a while to understand I was doing it. It’s good to see what you pray for. Visualization is an interesting aspect of prayer. Even God says as far as your eyes can see, that will He give. So, seeing what you’re praying for is quite important. One thing visualization does for you is fuel your faith. However, there’s one very important aspect of this that has to be taken into consideration- what you see has to be according to God’s will.

Imagine God as the homeowner with the blueprint of the plan He has for your life. And you as the architect because you are the one living that life. You can work with God’s blueprint for your life because He already has a picture in His head about what you look like.

Correct me if I’m wrong about this. If someone has an idea about what they want their house to look like, they hire a professional (an architect), who would draw up a plan for them right? Now, if this architect draws up a plan that looks great but doesn’t fit into the plan of the homeowner, should that plan be forced on the homeowner simply because the architect is the professional? No matter how great of an architect the person is, there is still a need to make sure the plan fits into that of the homeowner right? I really hope you understand my logic; not sure I fully know how to explain this metaphor seeing as I know nothing about architecture.

Anyways, what I’m trying to point out is that, what we see has to fit into the plan of God. So, the times when I say I see things without waiting for God to confirm it, I know they are not always according to God’s plan at the time. There is absolutely nothing that is too big for God to handle. What I’m just trying to say is that there have been times when prayer, that was meant to be a two-way communication, became more of a demand. I demanded for what I want from God without asking what His plans for me really are. When I found out I did that, I laughed about the fact that my favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11. How can I feel assured about His plans for my life when I’m not even in the least bit interested in hearing what He has laid out for me?

It was always weird for me because it’s at those moments you start to call to question all the good deeds you’ve been doing. You say things like- God, I’ve been faithful to You. I pray, pay my tithe, serve in church. Again, I know asking questions are important- I’m a big advocate of that. But sometimes, we whine instead of asking. Well, I know I do it. Especially when I already know what I’m supposed to do. Go back to the drawing board and place the images at the right places. We have the Holy Spirit for that.

You learn a lot by reading about things from people who have more experience than you. There’s always a fresh perspective to grab.

Sometimes when I experience things, I wonder at how much I really know. Can you ever really stop learning? Seems to me like there’s always a new perspective to discover. Look at the field of technology- If you seem to be a master at something today, be careful not to be stagnant because there’s always a new technology out there to learn. I’m not saying it’s impossible to gain expertise in something, what I’m saying is that you have to be open to learning new things. Broaden your horizon. There’s always something interesting out there that’s probably going to help you more than what you already know. Once we allow ourselves to become receptive, learning will come easily to us.

Love,

I often find myself asking God to fix a situation in a set way simply because I have already determined what is the best way. But God usually surprises me with a way I would never have come up with. It can be very difficult to identify that I am doing this. I’m so grateful that God knows my heart. I loved your thoughts on this especially the analogy of the architect. Many Thanks 8)
