Hello Greatness,
I’ve always appreciated teachable moments……. don’t always love them (coz they can get straight to the point very fast, and hit you where you don’t want to accept real fast), but I do appreciate them. The sins we’ve been covering has been doing that for me.

I’ve got a confession, “I AM A GREEDY PERSON”. Now, before you judge me, you should also answer the question, ARE YOU GREEDY TOO?
That’s a sentence I have never ever thought I will use or even think the word could be used to describe me. Call me self righteous, but I am one of those people who will make it a mission to make greedy people feel the pain of their own greed. I remember this one time when I went out of my way to make my friend see the error of her ways. You see, she is a taker and always ready to take but never willing to give. Whenever she comes to my house, she leaves with, if not all, a big bowl of food and the thing I couldn’t comprehend was how OK she was with that. As long as she is satisfied, she didn’t care about others. Time and time again I have spoken to her, my other friends laugh and say that’s just her, but I refused to believe a person could just be that way. So I took it upon myself to break that habit. She hosted a thanksgiving at her house and upon leaving, I took all the carry out I could ever carry. She was furious she couldn’t stand it. For once, she felt how annoying it is for someone to be greedy and not think of others.

When we hear “greedy” or “selfish,” the first thing most people will think of is food or money which is no doubt true. Greediness is what leads to gluttony. I looked up the definition of greed and it actually said “intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food.” The kind of greed I have has nothing to do with money or food. I am greedy in the area of my time. I asked the Holy Spirit to wake me up early one morning so I can have my time with Him, He woke me up but what I did was bargain for 5 mins, then another 5 and I was about to ask for another 5 minutes when He reminded me of my greedy friend and told me that is who I am in that moment . Immediately, I jumped out of bed. Until that moment I had never realized one could be greedy with time, but I desired more of something God had already given me. I desired it more at the expense of His word, revelation and time in His presence.
Greed is not just about money or food but our continuous desire to want more of anything.

“Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Matthew 4:8-10 KJV
Jesus was tempted with all the kingdoms of the earth; the temptation wasn’t the offer but the price He has to pay was the real offer masked as something else. The offer was the kingdoms of the earth, the price was worship to the devil. Greed can cause us to pay such a huge price without even thinking. All the kingdoms of the earth already belonged to Jesus and if he was greedy and wanted more, he would have paid a huge price before even realizing. I wonder what thing you want more of that is already yours. Remember, greed only comes from wanting more of what you already have. Let’s learn to be contented with what we have.
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” Colossians 3:5NIV

It’s easy for us to see the wrongs we practice in ourselves, but thank God for the HolyGhost who reveals all things……good one!

Beautifully put! Your right greed is so much more than money and what we think of it, we are all greedy at some point in our lives with different things and we don’t always see it.

Yes I can definitely get stuck in the need for more and have to guard my heart being careful of what I indulge in.
