Thanks to all those who have been following this series for the past six weeks, we’re almost done with the sins and I’ve got to say, I’ve enjoyed the outpouring of the writers. I hope you enjoy today’s post as well.
I stumbled on a video of a man making an illustration using two bottles of soda- he carried both bottles and shook them vigorously with the same energy, then he dropped them, opened one, and it immediately spilled all over the place. The drink spilled out almost half the whole content , and the other bottle that was left covered settled. This is exactly what anger does, you end up loosing rather than gaining.
Anger is a quick destroyer and it is not easily noticed while it grows.
‘Anger doesn’t just start when there’s an outburst’
There’s a build up, this has its building block from PRIDE. It makes you feel like ‘why would she talk to me like that’, ‘who’s your mate’ … see these little things we don’t pay attention to, it’s pride o, we all know pride is a sin. This pride develops and make you begin to take offense.
You begin to hold high things that really don’t matter 🤔🤦🏻♀, and offense just don’t disappear, they pile up till they control your emotions and when the cup is full, you just pour out rage which does no good to either you or the victim.
The Bible says Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiates 7:9. Hold on to this bible text, and let’s look at another perspective.
Back to the soda bottle illustration, did you know that the drink only give the spill-out reaction because of what it contains? If you shake water, you cannot get that same effect, Because water does not contain gas(CO2). It is the vigorous shaking of the liquid that causes its gas to give that furious effect, which will not happen in water except it is probably contaminated or something. This means, when you are angry, whatever you do in the process is what you have been meditating on. I know some people are easily angered, they say it’s their nature, I refuse to believe that 🚶🏻♀, it is only what they are built with. Take it or leave it, corrosion starts from a potential material.
To deal with anger you have to first deal with who you are and let go of the toxic thing you have kept in your heart. Although you cannot do it alone, you need the help of the Holy Spirit to constantly help you and put you to check.
⭕That same bottle of coke, open it pour it out into a container and leave it open, after a while, the exciting Gas will be removed, and no matter how much you shake, it will not spill except poured. Now, let me ask you, do you want to hold on to anger?
Back to the Bible text, anger lies in the bosom of fool, I’d interpret this to, only a fool holds on to anger .
Let me share my own story in closing -I misplaced my wallet that had most of my IDs, it kinda disorganized me for a few days, I was acting rather annoyingly. I wrote on my WhatsApp status that nobody should come to my dm and say, ‘eya, how did it happen?’ A friend of mine who works in my school administrative office saw it and didn’t want to reply because of what I wrote. In his words, he was trying to avoid wahala(trouble) as he has not seen me react like that before, and he could help me get another ID. I said this out of anger yeah, this made someone that could have helped me freak out. Tell me what’s greater folly than this ?
Finally, watch what you say when you are angry, you can’t swallow words already spilled and that’s even more dangerous 🤦🏻♀. Walk away always, you don’t have to reply, don’t let anger ruin you and all the things you have been building for years, physically or spiritually
