Hello Greatness,

In the past few months, I’ve had several teachable moments. Most of them about my view of God and the strength of my faith. I’ve got to tell you, the only way any of us really stand strong is knowing fully well what God has said to us in the Bible. Through it all, we have it at the back of our minds that if He did it for one, He can do it for all. I mean, till this day, that’s why testimonies are cherished. It strengthens your faith. That got me thinking about these Bible characters and how much of their stories have greatly influenced our faith. However, I also thought about how we become so familiar with their stories that we already know how it ends, and how their faith was strong through their trials. The interesting part of this really is that these characters could not have been hundred percent sure of the outcome, yet they put their faith in line.

The Bible records about Abraham in Romans 4:20-21 that, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Abraham waited for 25 years for the so-called promised child. I wonder what his thoughts would have been those times. He must have had several opportunities to bail on God’s Words. I like the verse that said about him, “who hoped against hope……..” So, basically, even when nothing seemed to look like there will be a positive response, he believed. Unlike us, he didn’t have any scripture to hold onto as an example of faith. All he had going for him was the word. His wife laughed about this so-called promise, I bet he didn’t have pastors to stir up his faith, or books to read to remind him of what God could do. He just kept up with his work, and God showed up in a big way. Let’s not even get started with him willing to give up that child that he waited all those years for.

Another example are the three Hebrew boys. Now those ones had something of a crazy faith. I would like you to read about these boys like you don’t know the outcome. If that’s possible. Their story is in Daniel 3 (it’s a pretty interesting read, it will be worth your while). They were not willing to compromise their faith irrespective of the consequences. I mean, they were willing to die.

 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

The truth is, a lot of us have faith until that faith is tested. These boys had faith in God, they went as far as, even if God decides He doesn’t want to do this, we will still put all our eggs in His basket. Make your faith less of a show off and more of a personal decision. When you put that faith in the line, you know that it’s a decision to trust God’s pace over yours. You are willing to move in sync with God and not decide if your schedule is better. Have the kind of faith like those Hebrew boys that even if He doesn’t, I will still trust in Him. The year is wrapping up and I’ve got to tell you that it’s never too late to dump your will and pick up God’s…… He shows up for His own. All you’ve got to do is trust Him.
