The Illusionist

Hello Greatness,

There is so much going on in our lives these days that we become susceptible to suggestions that are not quite right. The devil is the biggest illusionist there is. He has mastered the ability to spin up things to look like something else. The definition of illusion is……

a thing that is or likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. A deceptive appearance or impression. A false idea or belief.

You see, he has mastered the best way to convince your senses that they have correctly interpreted a situation. The Bible warns us to be vigilant “because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).” He searches for where you’re most vulnerable and uses it to his advantage. The only way to beat him at his game is to know who you are. Who has God called you to be? What has God said to you about that situation that the devil is desperately trying to weave his way into? Is he using your weakness to manipulate you? Or is he magnifying a sin and telling you there’s no way a sin as huge as that can be forgiven? So he’s telling you to keep it to yourself rather than take it to God. He must have found a way to convince you that you are undeserving of God’s mercy because God Himself said “He would have mercy on whom He will have mercy on.” And looking at your track record, it doesn’t seem like you actually qualify for that grace. Yes, it must be the truth because it’s from God’s Word right?

You should remember that he used the same tricks on Jesus. See, the devil doesn’t have new tricks, he’s up to the same old gimmicks he’s always used. The same way he twisted God’s Word to Eve was the same way he twisted the words to Jesus, and that’s the same thing he’s doing with you. The difference between Eve and Jesus is that Jesus knew who He was and what God had said about Him. Now, where would you rather stand— with Jesus who shut the devil up or with Eve who succumbed to the the devil’s suggestions?

Jesus knew the devil will try with you as well which was why He said that He came for the weak. That weakness that the devil has presented as a hindrance should be the very reason you run to Jesus. Surrender it to Him and remind Him that He already took your cross, you no longer have to bear the burden. Jesus said that you should come to Him with your burdens and he will bear it for you…. scratch that, He bore it for you.

The truth is, seeing you surrendering all to Jesus makes the devil miserable, and you know misery loves company, so he will do everything to make sure you’re just as miserable. Are you familiar with this one…… well, now that you’ve surrendered, how come some things are still not going right for you? That, right there, is his way of keeping you trapped. No wonder we are told to renew our minds… there is a need to declutter. Renew your mind so when the devil comes with his twisted words, you can say, “It is written.”

Don’t give the devil room to paint a picture that will change your perspective. That verse earlier states that he prances around like a roaring lion… yet again painting a picture of what he’s not. Oh, and by the way, the reason the devil is so intent on ruining your relationship with God is because he is afraid of you.

With all my love,

Mz_Ola.

Yeah, that’s right. We just need to be reminded that we are smarter. Only God’s Word is new everyday, not the devil’s tricks. Thanks for reading!!

Abslutely right…. you can’t go to a battle without being fully armed yourself, and we all know that the devil knows the scripture but twists it. If we know the Word for ourselves, then it can be used as a defense. Thanks for reading, Mercy.
